Really cool experimental animation

I came across this piece by Antonio Linhares. Firstly, I really like the music - it kind of reminds me of Pixar's The Incredibles' music. But I love the way Antonio plays with just squares and makes this entertaining. It all goes really fast and there is movement and rhythms which are anticipated and then suddenly broken in beat with the music. Hope you enjoy!

  1. First of all, I've been following your blog for a couple weeks now and your work is really amazing and inspiring! Quite a talent you've got!

And indeed, the movement and rhythms in this animation are awesome! Also, the music totally reminds me of Pixar's The Incredibles, it was my first tought when I first heard this!

As a curious fact... I happen to know Antonio and his work (although not in person), for a while now. I guess it has to do with the fact that I'm from Brazil and know a great deal of brazilian animators. In fact, Antonio was one of the fist animators I ever wrote to and he gave me great advice, a genuinely nice guy :)

  2. Thanks a lot :) I took a look at your blog, and you have some really nice stuff yourself! I especially like the drawing of your dog! You got some nice texture out of that.

I went to Brazil a couple of years ago, and it really is a great country! I've been trying to keep up and find animators and animation studios from there ever since...
